Lyrics:
Each day I live,
I want to be,
A day to give,
The best of me.
I’m only one,
But not alone,
My finest day,
Is yet unknown.
I broke my heart,
Fought every gain,
To taste the sweet,
I face the pain.
I rise and fall,
Yet through it all,
This much remains.
I want one moment in time,
When I’m more than I thought I could be.
Then all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me.
Give me one moment in time,
When I’m racing with destiny,
Then in that one moment of time,
I will feel,
I will feel eternity.
I’ve lived to be,
The very best.
I want it all,
No time for less.
I’ve laid the plans,
Now lay the chance,
Here in my hands.
Give me one moment in time,
When I’m more than I thought I could be.
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me.
Give me one moment in time,
When I’m racing with destiny.
Then in that one moment of time,
I will feel,
I will feel eternity.
You’re a winner for a lifetime,
If you seize that one moment in time,
Make it shine.
Give me one moment in time,
When I’m more than I thought I could be,
When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away,
And the answers are all up to me.
Give me one moment in time,
When I’m racing with destiny.
Then in that one moment of time,
I will be,
I will be,
I will be free,
I will be free.

Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born August 9, 1963) is an American R&B/Pop singer, actress, and former fashion model. A relative of several prominent soul singers, including her mother Cissy Houston, cousins Dee Dee and Dionne Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin, Houston began singing at her New Jersey church as a member of a junior gospel choir at age eleven. After she began performing alongside her mother at night clubs in the New York City area, she was discovered by Arista Records label head Clive Davis.
In June 1988, during the European leg of her tour, Houston joined other musicians to perform a set at Wembley Stadium in London to celebrate a then-imprisoned Nelson Mandela’s 70th birthday. Over 72,000 people attended Wembley Stadium, and over a billion people tuned in worldwide as the rock concert raised over $1 million for charities while bringing awareness to apartheid. Houston then flew back to the US for a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City in August. The show was a benefit concert that raised a quarter of a million dollars for the United Negro College Fund. In the same year, she recorded a song for NBC’s coverage of the 1988 Summer Olympics, “One Moment in Time“, which became a Top 5 hit in the US, while reaching number one in the UK and Germany. With her current world tour continuing overseas, Houston was still one of the top 20 highest earning entertainers for 1987–1988 according to Forbes Magazine.
